Visa for individual travel in China is easy to get. China will even issue visas to individuals from different countries which haven’t created diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China (PRC).
Visas are readily available in Chinese embassies and consulates in most countries across the world. In the UK, it will take three to five days and ￡25 to get a standard 30-day single-entry visas from the embassy in London . The Chinese embassy and consulates in Australia charge $A30 for a standard single-entry visa. In the USA, a standard 30-day single-entry visa costs $30 US dollars and extends for about one week.
Visa application requires one passport-sized photo. Your application must be written in English, and you are advised to have one entire blank page in your passport for the visa.
The visa application form presents you a series of questions, such as, your travel itinerary, means of transport, how long you will stay, etc.

Multiple-Entry Visa
Multiple-entry visa allows you to enteror leave a foreign country for unlimited times. It can be available by CTS and some travel agencies in Hong Kong. The cheapest multiple-entry visa only costs Hk$650 and is valid for 90 days.

Visa Extension
Visa extension is under the charge of the Foreign Affairs Branch of the local Public Security Bureau (PSB)-the police force. Extension can cost nothing for some countries, while Y25 for most nationalities and Y50 for others.

Re-Entry Visa
Most foreign residents in China have multiple-entry visas, so it’s no need for re-entry visas. However, there might be other requirements (tax clearance, vaccinations, etc). If in doubt, check with the PSB before departing.
